Administered by the Environmental Protection & Sustainability Division (EPS), the mission is to fund environmental initiatives that strive to build a sustainable community.
Projects that are led by, or focus on, traditional Hawaiian practices and approaches are encouraged. Application will be available for download and submission by April 1, 2026. Applications for Fiscal Year 2027 will open on April 1, 2026 and are due by April 30, 2026 by 4:00pm.
The following Grant Funds are part of the Sustainability Grants Program: ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION & GREEN GRANTS Total available FY26 grant funds: $460,000 The Environmental Protection Grants and Green Grants both support sustainability initiatives including invasive species management, natural resource protection, conservation, restoration, and climate change resilience.
Total available FY26 grant funds: $100,000 The Green Building and Resilient Housing Grants promote sustainable building practices and resilient housing design and construction. Total available FY26 grant funds: $800,000 The Wetlands Restoration Grants support the efforts of organizations dedicated to wetland restoration within the county.
Total available FY26 grant funds: $100,000 The Renewable Energy Grant support initiatives aimed at promoting renewable energy and enhancing energy efficiency across the county.
