The Fund is inspired by the life and work of Jacquie Jones who dedicated her life to the development and growth of diverse content creators, and the creation of projects that serve the needs of all communities that encourage dialogue, nurture respect and promote understanding.

### Grant Details to come The $300,000 fund, made possible by CPB, was inspired by the life and work of Jacquie Jones, the Peabody Award-winning director and former executive director of BPM. ### Remembering Jacquie Jones _**American Sons**_ follows a brotherhood of Marines as they struggle to overcome the trauma of combat in Afghanistan and the loss of many of their comrades, including their dear friend JV Villarreal.

Now, a decade after JV’s death, his brother Marines continue to reunite, helping each other cope with lingering wounds and strengthening the unbreakable bonds formed in war. The film had its broadcast premiere on VOCES on January 12, 2026, and is currently streaming on PBS. is an autobiographical exploration of one woman’s family history with child sexual abuse and a culture of silence.

In the process of sharing her own trauma with her large family, director Jasmin López learns that generations of children in her family were victims of abuse. The film premiered at BlackStar Film Festival in 2022 to much acclaim and will receive its broadcast premiere on Independent Lens May 15, 2023.

The film premiered at BlackStar Film Festival in 2020 and had its broadcast premiere on POV on May 10, 2021.
