Truist West Virginia Foundation About the Foundation & Guidelines test Truist West Virginia Foundation The Truist West Virginia Foundation is a charitable private foundation established on December 13th, 1971.

The mission of The Truist West Virginia Foundation is to improve the quality of life in West Virginia by supporting organizations and institutions that help people lead more rewarding and responsible lives and promote the general well-being of West Virginians.

Truist West Virginia Foundation makes charitable contributions to publicly-supported, charitable organizations qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code with a particular focus on the following: Education & Workforce Development – focus on program support that help residents, particularly low income residents, with the skills necessary to find employment earning a living wage.

Economic Development – focus on program and project support for efforts that: Revitalize/Stabilize Communities – focus on programs that revitalize or stabilize communities through economic development efforts, downtown revitalization, removal of slum and blight, and other activities that promote job creation or economic improvement in underserved and distressed communities Small Business Development – focus on programs and projects that support the start-up and growth of small businesses Arts & Culture – focus on programs and projects that promote Arts & Culture as a community development tool to enrich local communities and make them a more desirable place to live and conduct business.

Essential Community Services – focus on programs and projects that help to meet basic human needs, provide financial empowerment activities, increase access to healthcare and mental/behavioral health, and removal of employment barriers such as transportation and childcare/after-school programs.

Other Areas of Interest – The Foundation occasionally makes grants in other areas of interest, such as, but not limited to; affordable housing, childcare, small business and workforce development, etc.. Truist West Virginia Foundation serves the entire State of WV and has a desire to have geographic spread of investments to support all areas of the state.

The Foundation supports projects that demonstrate sustainability and measurable impact.

In order of importance, the Foundation prefers to fund: Specific project-based needs Long-term financially viable initiatives Capital needs (considered on a case-by-case basis) The Truist West Virginia Foundation does not support the following: Organizations that have a written policy of discrimination Religious, veteran, or fraternal organizations Sponsorships or fundraising events Eligibility Requirements: The Foundation will consider all qualified applications received from organizations that are exempt from taxation under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).

Nonprofits should be in good financial standing and operating without a deficit. If you are a 509(a)(3) Supporting Organization, please be prepared to provide additional information. Grants are not made to individuals.

Grants will not be accepted via paper. Application must be submitted through online portal. The application will close December 31st , annually.

The annual meeting for decisions is March and organizations selected to receive funding will be notified in April or May. The average grant request size is between $10,000-$20,000 and the average approved funding has historically been $2,500-$10,000.
