Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Governor’s Discretionary Fund | Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Governor’s Discretionary Fund The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Governor’s Discretionary Fund grant is awarded through the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) and administered by the United States Department of Labor .
The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith, and Family (GOYFF) aids in distributing approximately $5. 9 million in funding to support organizations across the state in implementing best practices that address workforce needs while enhancing collaboration among local, regional, and statewide entities that support this work.
The GOYFF also collaborates with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) , the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services (ADVS) , and the Center for the Future of Arizona to expand their workforce development programs.
Additionally, the GOYFF has partnered with Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions to conduct a cross-site evaluation of the WIOA, Governor's Discretionary Fund grant program. Funding supports programs in Arizona's urban, rural, and tribal communities that serve the following target populations: Currently and formerly incarcerated individuals. Currently or formerly involved with the foster care system.
High school students preparing for college or a career. Unemployed and underemployed i ndividuals Individuals with disabilities. Individuals who have experienced trauma.
