Young Athletes Foundation Grant Program

Young Athletes Foundation Grant Program is sponsored by Young Athletes Foundation (Grandma's Marathon). The Young Athletes Foundation contributes to and supports recreational and athletic organizations in the community, providing pathways of opportunities for kids to live healthier and more active lifestyles. Grants can be used for participation scholarships and equipment.

Grant Program - Young Athletes Foundation The YAF recognizes that some organizations may have durable equipment needs while others may have non-equipment, financial needs that address the rising participation costs or fees for youth involved in the organization’s activities. Since 1990, the YAF has awarded nearly $700,000 to our community’s youth and recreational athletic organizations through the grant program.

APPLY FOR A YOUNG ATHLETES FOUNDATION GRANT Organizations may apply for both scholarship and equipment funds on the same application, not to exceed $3,000. The YAF will consider applications for grants for participation scholarships as well. Please send grant applications to Sarah Culver via email at [email protected] .

Organizations who have received a grant from the YAF in the past are eligible to reapply after at least 2 calendar years. The YAF Committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every odd-numbered month, to review grant applications. To be considered at the next YAF Committee meeting, grant applications are due two weeks prior to the next scheduled meeting.

Since its inception in 1990, the YAF has contributed more than $1. 8 million of community support through our grant program, running shoe program, and both the Eleanor Rynda and Steve & Carolyn Mather scholarships. The organization also hosts several kids’ events throughout the year including our Wednesday Night & Saturday Morning at the Races series.

The YAF’s mission is helped and funded by various road races throughout the year — KP Challenge, Saint Fennessy 4K, Fitger’s 5K, Park Point 5-Miler, Minnesota Mile, and Superior Nightmare 5K.
