Capacity Building/Planning Grant - Delaware HumanitiesDelaware Humanities Skip to Navigation Skip to Content Prime Time Family Reading Voices of the First Peoples Capacity Building/Planning Grant Capacity Building/Planning Grant For improving and expanding on the internal capacity of your organization Successful Capacity Building/Planning Grant Grant applications demonstrate the research and planning component of a project as it relates to building the capacity of your organization.

Organizations we can fund: Delaware nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations K-12 schools, colleges, universities Museums, historical societies, libraries State/local government agencies Professional or social organizations Community or religious groups An eligible organization must align their Grant to fit within the DE Humanities Four Core Themes (Stories/Histories, Environment/Health, Media/Democracy, Culture/Community) and explain why the Grant fits into a specific theme.
Award amount(s) : Applicants may request grant funds between $5,001-18,000. A 1:1 Cost-Share match is required. Period of Performance : All funded projects must begin after the grant is awarded.
No pre-award costs are allowed. A UEI# is required in order to receive funds for each grant type, and it can take up to a week to receive one. We encourage minority-led organizations and organizations providing programming to historically marginalized communities in Delaware to apply for support.
To apply for Capacity Building/Planning Grant support, a Letter of Interest (LOI) is required, and successful applicants receive invitations to submit applications. All Capacity Building. Planning Grant applications must demonstrate a direct connection to a humanities program or activity.
Some examples: Planning and development of public humanities programming, like a discussion series Humanities-based research as a precursor to an exhibition, documentary film, or larger project Assessing Audience diversification and expansion efforts of a specific humanities program or activity to a historically marginalized community Ideas that are not listed here are always welcome!

Planning and development costs for new humanities programs, or re-imagining or revision of existing programs- focusing on the research and design aspect, rather than implementation or action.
Expansion of outdoor and/or virtual activities and increase in access to those activities for target populations Direct programming and implementation costs integral to the project Honoraria for humanities experts/scholars/facilitators Domestic travel and per diem – per diem may include refreshments- which must be shown to be necessary and reasonable, travel costs are allowed for out of town personnel only.
