Photo by Jared Silvia. Florida Humanities’ Community Project Grants have supported hundreds of cultural organizations across the state, helping bring communities together through meaningful projects rooted in history, culture, and the humanities. To ensure our grantmaking continues to serve the needs of communities statewide, we have some important updates to share about this funding opportunity for 2025.
Community Project Grants will now be known as Public Humanities Program Grants . The new name reflects both the types of projects we are able to support and our continued mission to connect Floridians to the history, cultures and shared stories of our state. Organizations may still request up to $10,000 in funding to support a wide variety of public humanities projects.
• New Two-Step Application Process In an effort to save time and effort for interested applicants, submitting a Letter of Interest (LOI) has been added as a requirement to the application process. This brief LOI serves as a preliminary proposal with basic information about your organization and your proposed project.
After submitting the required LOI, our Grants team will review and select which applicants will proceed to the full application phase. Deadlines for 2025 LOIs are February 5 and June 4 at 12 PM (EST) .
• Eligibility Criteria for Colleges and Universities While we deeply value the contributions of higher education institutions, due to our current funding limitations, colleges and universities or their various departments are not eligible to directly apply for Public Humanities Program Grants.
However, we strongly encourage academic personnel interested in conducting public programming outside their campus community to partner with an eligible nonprofit organization to submit a Letter of Interest (LOI). • 2025 Funding Priorities Florida Humanities has long been a leader in supporting the state’s cultural groups and community projects.
However, recent shifts in our funding have required us to evaluate how we can continue offering support in ways that are both strategic and sustainable. These changes are not about scaling back our commitment to the humanities, but about making sure we focus resources on projects that will have the greatest benefit for communities across Florida.
