Post-Production Grant is sponsored by Portland Events and Film Office. This grant encourages the completion of local feature-length films and aims to position local producers for larger productions. Funds must be used on Portland-based post-production vendors/services.

Post-Production Grant — Portland Events and Film Office The Portland Events and Film Office, in partnership with Travel Portland , is proud to offer a grant opportunity for Portland-based independent film productions to support and offset the cost of the post-production process.

The funding is designed to encourage the completion of local feature-length films and to position local producers to build toward larger, more resourceful productions. Past recipients of the Post-Production Grant include Beatlore , directed by Joanie Fox, The Bride Price , by George Faux, Dear Doris , by Scott Braucht, and Pour the Water as I Leave , by Jessica Daughterty. This year, grants of $7,500 each will be awarded.

Housed at and supported by Prosper Portland , the Portland Events and Film Office is committed to the economic vitality of a Portland-centered production ecosystem and seeks to build the local supply chain and expand industry capacity.

The intent of this funding aims to: create content that brings Portland an international spotlight; create capacity building of our local production institutions that grow the career development of Portland talent and crew long term; support productions that further diversify the local film industry.

Applicants will be contacted by the Portland Events and Film Office via email or phone once selected.

Awardees must agree to the following: Signing a grant agreement; Reporting and verification requirements; Including the Portland Events and Film Office logo on final film credits; Sharing name, production, and award of the film in marketing materials on the Portland Events and Film Office and Prosper Portland communication channels; Additional insurance requirements will be included.

PLEASE NOTE: Prosper Portland will issue a Form 1099-G at year-end. The grantee is solely responsible for any local, state, or federal taxes owed in connection with this grant.

To receive funding grantees must provide: Be in compliance with State of Oregon and City of Portland registration requirements Scoring will be based on: Feature-length, Portland-based productions that meet the criteria for eligibility will be evaluated by a panel of industry professionals, past recipients , and city staff.

All eligible submissions will be weighted with the following priorities in mind: Diverse representation in film and/or in production; Impact of the film on local talent and economy; Influence of funding on the project and/or career of the applicant; Potential for the film to have national impact and visibility. Funding is reserved for the professional development and employment of local professionals in the film and music industry.

Grant funds can be applied towards post-production services such as: sound, picture editing, color matching, color grading, closed caption, tech specs for distributors, VFX/animation, and music clearances using local post-production houses only.

Production work that is not based in Portland; Development phase costs (e.g. writers retreat), already completed work, insurance, and permits; Reimbursement costs for expenses that already took place; Capital expenses, infrastructure expenditures, or regular/ongoing operating expenditures; Funding may not be used for controlled substances.

General Terms and Conditions The following will apply to all grant awards: Grantees must complete the use of funding for the project within the proposed timeline, or they must get written approval of an amendment to the proposed project completion date. Awarded project funds must be spent by the end of December 2026. Grantees must comply with reporting requirements set forth in the grant agreement.

Grant Agreement and Reporting and Accountability Direct financial assistance: Grantees will enter into a grant agreement with Prosper Portland and receive a cash grant to support a film production in Portland. This agreement will be in support of the implementation and completion of a film production in Portland. Prosper Portland has the sole authority to determine the successful performance of any grantee.

To assess the successful grantee performance and overall program success, grantees will submit a grant impact report that includes service and accountability targets, qualitative and quantitative data outlined in the grant agreements. Additionally, grant agreements include language around performance, which may impact future funding if grantee performance is unsatisfactory.

Disbursements to direct financial assistance grantees are made upon execution of a grant agreement as detailed above. Prosper Portland is not obligated to disburse any grant proceeds in excess of actual grantee costs. Frequently Asked Questions How do I know if I am eligible?

Los fondos de la subvención pueden usarse para la contratación de servicios de posproducción como: sonido, edición de imágenes, igualación de colores, gradación del color, subtítulos ocultos, especificaciones técnicas para distribuidores, efectos visuales/animación y obtención de autorizaciones para el uso de música utilizando solo estudios de posproducción locales.

Uso no permitido de los fondos Trabajos y gastos de producción que no se lleven a cabo en Portland. Gastos de la fase de desarrollo (por ejemplo, lugares de retiro para escritores), trabajos finalizados, seguros y permisos. Gastos de reembolso por gastos ya realizados.
