Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers # Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers For nearly fifty years, the Southern Circuit has worked with Screening Partners to connect independent filmmakers with community audiences throughout the South for screenings and conversations around compelling stories, important topics, and the art of filmmaking.
Screening Partners present screenings and host touring filmmakers, using independent film as a conduit for community connection and conversation. Southern Circuit Screening Partner organizations have included universities, community arts centers, municipalities, historic cinemas, museums, libraries, places of worship, and more, serving diverse audiences of all ages. Southern Circuit prioritizes featuring Southern filmmakers and stories.
We are committed to presenting films by filmmakers in every stage of their career, including emerging and first-time filmmakers. The Southern Prize and State Fellowships for Visual Arts is a grant program from South Arts that funds professional visual artists living in the Southeast United States. One artist receives the Southern Prize of $25,000, while State Fellowship recipients in each of the nine participating states receive $5,000 each. The program supports artists working across all visual arts disciplines by providing unrestricted awards to advance their careers and creative practice. Eligible applicants must be professional visual artists residing in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee.
